Stay in control after issuance.

As the issuer, you manage the status of digital credentials issued by your organisation. The recipient stores the credential in a wallet, but circumstances can change, for example when a membership ends. You can then revoke, suspend or reinstate the credential if its type and trust framework support those actions.

To support credential management, Ver.iD records only metadata, such as the issuance time, status and management actions. The contents of the credential are not stored in this record. In Ver.iD Studio, you view this information and perform the available management actions. The platform processes the change and makes the updated status available for verification.

Find the right credential.

In Studio, see when your credentials were issued, their validity periods and their current status.

When something changes in your organisation, look up the corresponding credential and decide which management action is needed.

Update the status when circumstances change.

Use the available management actions in Studio, such as revocation, suspension and reinstatement. The platform processes the change and makes the updated status available to receiving parties. Ver.iD provides the technical infrastructure they use to check the status. Your team does not have to build and maintain it.

Revocation does not remove the credential from the wallet. Receiving parties must check its status; during offline verification, that information may be out of date. To correct the contents, issue a new credential.

Explore the agreements for a credential
One possible sequence: from issuance through suspension to revocation.
Issued
The credential has been issued. Validity and conditions still apply.
Suspended
Temporarily suspended. Reinstatement is possible if the type and agreements allow it.
Revoked
Permanently revoked. Reinstatement is not possible; a correction requires a new issuance.

See who changed the status and when.

For each credential, see which management actions were performed, when they took place and which user or system performed them.

Your team can then explain how the current status came about and investigate questions about previous changes.

What you need to manage your credentials.

  • A reference to the right credential.

Make sure your own records let you identify which issued credential a change relates to. You can then find the right credential in Studio or reference it through a system integration.

  • Clear permissions.

Decide who in your organisation may perform management actions and which changes call for revocation, suspension or reinstatement.

  • Suitable management actions.

The available actions depend on the credential and the trust framework. Use the available actions in Studio and decide which, if any, you want to initiate from your own systems.

Practical questions about Manage.

A credential expires when its validity period ends. Revocation permanently invalidates it before that date, for example because the associated entitlement has ended. Revocation is only possible if your configuration supports it.
