Development and access
In development for use within the European EUDI system. The official repository expects public availability in 2027. This is the project’s expectation, not a confirmed general release.
MinBZK · NL Wallet (GitHub)Who is NL Wallet for?
NL Wallet is the Dutch public contribution to the European digital identity system. The project is intended for people sharing information about themselves with, for example, a public service or a business. The government develops the wallet on behalf of BZK. The public wallet and the organisations issuing or requesting data each have a distinct role.
Digitale Overheid · NL WalletWhat does the project describe?
The project documentation describes receiving, holding and selectively sharing data. One example is proving you are over 18 without sharing your full date of birth. Which digital credentials you can actually receive and use also depends on participating issuers and recipients. Diploma or driving-licence examples in the project description do not confirm that those documents are available now.
MinBZK · NL Wallet (GitHub)What limitations matter?
The repository provides source code and development-environment instructions. That access differs from a publicly released wallet. The technical documentation requires internet connectivity for receiving and sharing data. A working local demonstration does not establish admission to the production system or acceptance of every digital credential.
MinBZK · NL Wallet (GitHub)Integration with Ver.iD
Ver.iD currently supports NL Wallet for testing only. Production support is not yet available. This test support is separate from NL Wallet’s public availability and does not establish certification or acceptance of every digital credential.
